A month to savour

Harvest+2019

What a month we’ve had at the vineyard! It’s been busy to say the least. So here’s a quick recap on what’s been going on at Dunesforde.

Early October, we greeted 80 guests and the BBC One Show to the vineyard for the launch of our first wines. Such an incredibly exciting time for us. The Solaris and Bacchus were showcased and we’re delighted with the results and the feedback. Both have a distinct and characterful flavour - just as we were hoping. Chef Director at The Yorke Arms, Frances Atkins, was involved in the tasting and was so impressed with the Solaris in particular that it’s featuring on their wine list. A week later The One Show was aired and we sold 35 mixed cases overnight. What a start!

It wasn’t just about launching our 2018 wines. There was work to be done with picking this year’s grapes. Thank you to all the wonderful and hard working volunteers who came out across the three days in October. We finished up on Halloween. By the end of the day we all felt a bit ghostly…it was a long, but fruitful day. The three grape varieties - Solaris, Bacchus and Pinot Noir Précoce have all been sent to our wine makers in the Midlands. The still white wines will be available next summer. So in the meantime, make sure you get your hands on the 2018 harvest - stock is running low already. You can visit us in the run up to Christmas as we’re opening the vineyard on Saturday mornings, 10am-midday from 30 November to 21 December - we hope to see you then.
